The Ward Melville boys lacrosse team, ranked #1 in Digital Sports Lacrosse Rankings, took home the victory in the Class ‘A’ semifinals match against Smithtown East on May 24th. The Patriots took an early 4-1 lead in the first quarter of the game, making it impossible for Smithtown to recover.
Ward Melville Opened the game with a bang, putting on display thier ferocious offensive attack and stout defense. The Patriot Offesne was lead by Danny Bucaro and Christian Mazzone, assisted the team in making the game 8-3 by the end of the first half.
Not only had the Patriots run up the score, but they also dominated in most face-offs, turnovers, ground balls, as well as clearing the ball. The Patritots iced the game in the third quarter as they extended thier lead to 10-3. The Bulls were able to pick it up for their team by the fourth, netting three goals but overall could not get passed Ward Melville.
Ward Melville captured the win with a final victory of 14-6. They will advance to the Class ‘A’ Championship game against Smithtown West on Wednesday, May 29th.
